Huachuma: Expand, Heal, and Renew

Transformative, Authentic, and Sacred Retreats in an Environment Unique to the Powerful and Ancient Temple of the Moon.

What is Huachuma and How Does He Help?

Huachuma is a powerful plant medicine indigenous to the South American Andes. Many Quechua speaking cultures have used this potent plant teacher to  expand consciousness, transform, and release negative emotional baggage. Huachuma is sometimes referred to as San Pedro, Washuma, or The Grandfather. Huachuma has been used by the Chavin,  Cupisnique, Paracas, Nazca, Moche, Chimú, and Inca empires. The tradition of drinking Huachuma has occurred for centuries, and its origins are unknown. However these ancient rituals survive today because they are effective.

Traditional uses of Huachuma are for Healing, Spiritual Insight, and Divination. Our Huachuma is prepared from fresh Cactus with only water, and produces a very clean experience. This leads our guests towards a new era in which they bloom into introspection with clarity and a open heart. To have a heart opening experience is Huachumas apex effect all while the spirit of Huachuma guides us toward this goal with grace, gentleness, and a caring push toward a new perspective.

The Ancient Raymi and How they Impact Us

Raymi are a type of festival held by the Ancient Quechua speaking peoples of the Andes. These festivals celebrate seasons and are based on the movements of the Sun. There are four primary Raymi:

  • Pawkar Raymi: Held in the fall (March Equinox) this Raymi celebrates the garden. The Ancient Quechua speaking tribes celebrate the garden and all of the abundance it has provided.  Our Pawkar Raymi Ceremony follows this tradition through transformation by celebrating our own inner garden, and giving thanks to all that nature has provided for us. While also creating space for something new to grow.
  • Inti Raymi: This is the most famous of all Raymi and is celebrated annually in the city of Cusco and throughout the Andean Mountains. This festival is observed on the winter solstice and marks the return of Inti the Sun God. Our Inti Raymi celebration is focused on the return of our own personal inner light. Offering expansion on the shortest day of the year, knowing that the inner light will now return to the increase we need for our own personal growth.
  • Killa Raymi: This Raymi is a celebration of the Moon. Observed on the spring (September) equinox. The Moon Festival is one to explore our feminine aspects as Killa lights the way through the darkness to understanding.
  • Kapak Raymi: The great organizer. This Raymi is one of examination and preparation. Kapak Raymi is observed on the longest day of the year, the Summer (December) Solstice. The Organizer comes into our work by helping us to examine our past year, while preparing us to enter another cycle of growth and transformation.

For more information about the Raymi, please refer the the sourced links at the bottom of the page. It is important to understand that Quechua wasn’t a written language and thus spellings may vary. In the same way, the Andes are full of Quechua speaking people and their celebration of the Raymi varies greatly in every small mountain town across the entirety of the Andes; from Ecuador to Argentina.

About Your Guide: Shane Parks

I have been living in and travelling South America for more than a decade. Training with Huachumeros, Ayahuasceros, Curanderos, and all manner of plant teachers. Only four years ago now, after learning as much as I can about myself, I was called to begin facilitating the journey of others.

My biggest allies are humility, respect, and purity of intention. These qualities guide all of my work with the medicine. With great gratitude I invite you to contact me with any questions or concerns.
